David Markell

With nearly six decades of experience in the construction industry, David brings a deep knowledge and expertise to KAustin & Associates. His construction journey began at a young age working alongside his father, and he contracted his first roofing job at just 17. Since then, he has worked full-time in the industry for over 48 years, serving in roles including Project Manager, Construction Manager, and Estimator. David’s experience spans a broad range of project types—from residential and commercial to industrial and medical, including ground-up builds and tenant improvements. His ability to solve problems efficiently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain a sharp attention to detail makes him a critical asset to the KAustin estimating team. Outside of work, David enjoys life on the farm with his wife Kathleen, where they raise cattle and chickens and tend to a thriving garden. He’s an avid cyclist, a devoted family man with six adult children, 16 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren—and counting. David is also actively involved in Christian ministry, which remains a central part of his life. David jumped out of three perfectly good airplanes and officiated three weddings—showing he is fearless both in the sky and in front of a crowd.
